Automation Technician
Location: St. Albert, ON
Starting at $26 per hour + Shift Premium
Shift: Rotation Days, Evenings and Weekend rotation
Responsibilities:
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC/HMI/SCADA-based control systems for processing equipment
- Implement automation solutions for Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems, batch processing, and temperature/flow control.
- Ensure compliance with sanitary design standards specific to the Food industry, as well as FDA, USDA, and FSMA requirements.
- Integrate sensors, valves, variable frequency drives, and instrumentation for process control and monitoring.
- Collaborate with maintenance, quality assurance, and production teams to resolve issues and implement system improvements.
- Conduct I/O checks, Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, and commission control panels and automated lines.
- Maintain detailed documentation, including network diagrams, ladder logic, batch sequences, and validation reports.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, automation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Over 5 years of experience in automation or controls integration within a dairy or food processing environment.
- Proficiency in PLC/HMI programming (preferably Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation).
- Hands-on experience with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, etc.).
- Advanced skills in technical troubleshooting and documentation management.
- Strong attention to detail and precision.
